The best advice I can think is rich. The more tickets you buy, the more chances you have of winning. Except I do not think it’s a strategy.

If your goal is to win the jackpot, then your best strategy is to buy as many tickets as you can.
If your goal is to come out ahead, then your best strategy is to not play.
My strategy is to buy a $ 1 ticket and then get a lot of fantasy time in. The odds are so long against winning, that I figure I am paying for that fantasy time only, so I should make it count.
The other strategy is to buy several million tickets, in all the possible number combinations. If there are 49 numbers and you have to choose 6 numbers, the possible combinations total 13,983,816.
If you have all the combos covered, you will win all the prizes, or at least share them. If the winnings, as shared, total less than the amount spent, then you will have a loss. There’s no guarantee that you will be the only one with the big prize, and fairly certain that the lesser prizes will be shared. So you’d want a massive prize amount, several times greater than the amount spent.
It would be quite the project to get all the tickets bought and then organized so you can find the winners. You’d probably need a large team of employees or partners, and all tickets would need to be placed in a locked location before the drawing so nobody gets tempted to cash in ones they are holding (and the same few people would have most of the winners, wouldn’t they?) So, let’s see. The cost would be all those tickets, plus the cost of hiring people to buy the tickets (these need to be spread out over at least 14000 locations @1000 tickets bought per location) and you’ll need to hire the employees who sort the 13 million bought tickets for easy location after the drawing. I don’t know if any syndicate has actually accomplished this, although one came close in Virginia (see link below.)
And it could all go down the drain if one crucial person has a flat tire and can’t get to his lottery dealer in time to get all the tickets he’s supposed to buy.
How’s this:
Buy $ 50 worth of lottery tickets each and every week of your life for the next 70 years. (I hope you’re very young still.)
That adds up to $ 182,000 worth of lotto tickets.
Guess what? After a LIFETIME of spending 50 bucks per week, you STILL have, for all practical purposes, ZERO chance of winning a lotto jackpot.
This is the truth. You can analyze the numbers, you can consult a psychic, you can analyze dreams, say a prayer, and perform some Voodoo magic. It won’t matter. NONE of these things will give you any better chance of hitting a jackpot.
The truth is you will NEVER, ever, ever, ever, EVER win any sort of jackpot. Not as long as you live. Neither will I.
My tip? ACCEPT THIS AS TRUE! If you accept this truth, you can focus on REAL ways to improve your life rather than waste your time and your money on a poor man’s fantasy.
The strategy that yields the highest expected return is to not play.
